Meet Tineke Bremer, a member of the Wageningen Campus Team
As a community manager at Wageningen Campus, I focus on strengthening the connections between the organisations, researchers, students and partners on campus. At its core, my work revolves around bringing people together, spotting opportunities and ensuring that ideas are given a space where they can flourish. I help ensure that encounters are not coincidental, but natural.
What I love most about working at Wageningen Campus is the openness. Here, you can speak to an entrepreneur, a researcher and a student all in one day, and everyone is open to new perspectives. That mix makes the work vibrant and meaningful. Wageningen Campus is also literally an open space. I really enjoy the many outdoor meeting spots surrounded by greenery and am always happy when I arrive on campus at the start of a working day.
This year, I hope we can make it even easier for campus organisations to connect with one another and develop activities together. Small encounters that grow into something bigger, that’s what I do it for. Specifically, I’m currently working on developing a Wageningen Campus Venue Run. We’re starting small this year (100 participants in a compact area), but we hope to expand this further in the coming years.
My home base on Wageningen Campus is Impulse, the creative hub where I get to put together part of the programme. It’s a place where ideas take root, where there’s room for experimentation, and where people naturally find each other. Do pop in on a Tuesday between 12.30 and 1.30 pm, when the weekly lunch concerts take place. And every two months there’s a new exhibition, which is definitely worth a visit during your lunch break or after work.
And if anything were possible, I would open a workshop tomorrow where artists and researchers could work together. A place where art and science come together and where you are encouraged to broaden your horizons, so that new perspectives can emerge.
