New SRF-subsidy for joint investments in advanced shared research equipment

Equipment for research is often expensive, yet it is hardly ever used to its full capacity. To address this challenge, Wageningen University & Research – Shared Research Facilities (SRF) provides companies as well as research institutes the possibility to invest jointly in shared advanced research equipment, based on a new subsidy provided by the Province of Gelderland (in 2026 and 2027) and the Region Deal Foodvalley (in 2028 and 2029). Equipment can be placed at Wageningen University & Research as well as at external parties, ensuring its presence at the preferred location and/or placement with the main user.

Sharing facilities is a proven method to make advanced research equipment available and cost-effective for organisations working in ‘the Wageningen domain’, in order to maximise capacity and accelerate innovation. Also, expertise regarding devices and technologies is discussed and exchanged between different users.

Conditions for applying for a shared subsidy for new devices: - in short -

• Investments in innovative, advanced research equipment.
• Open to all, no parties are excluded in advance.
• Investment must fit within the WUR domain (active efforts to involve WUR must be demonstrated).
• At least two committed parties, preferably with at least one industry partner.
• SRF can (help) search for other interested parties to co-invest.

Please also check the WUR Research Equipment Platform for the equipment that is currently available for shared use. The research equipment platform offers access to a total of 920 devices, of which 450 are available for shared use by external parties.
